Tea in China

Sold out and used wrapping paper instead...

Harking back I remember a post that said something about the loss of youth. I remember being frightened as my ability to cope with a hangover the same way I would at 19 got up and went on a bender, startled at the 'youth of my day' (see bottom 2 papragraphs) and frustrated by the sudden mountain of responsibilty drilling into my back. But maturity does bring somethings...
  • Better with the ladies. an important benefit of 'knowing your limits'
  • A more discerning taste. there is life outside of Dazed and Confused
  • Superior sense of reality. Jedi Knight is neither job nor religion
There are certain skills that will however, remain beyond me no matter what my age:

Please note the toddleresque chunks of tape and screwed up, second attempt paper used to wrap Kate's presents.

GIG! 24th January 2006 (those in the know, close to my Birthday) at the Twist Accoustic club, Greenwhich. £4 in, onstage at 10.20pm. Also playing, Pauline Taylor (ex-Faithless). Should be a good one, bring your mates.

If you've been clicking your links you'll have seen a couple of myspace's. We're very keen to get as many friends of The MüVs as we can here so please, if you've got a minute join in. All you need to do is create a profile and then retrun to myspacethemüvs and click to add me as a friend. It's pretty good to be in anyway, there are strange folk out there. My Mum managed it, so can you!

NEWS! The MüVs are being spoken about at number 1 Chav site, www.chavscum.co.uk someone's even asked for the guitar TABS! The MüVs also have a forum which we'd encourage you to get in on, you can place an X-Factor style vote for your favourite track too.

I'll lay off the weblinks for a bit after this post, promise.

And finally. Phil, wherever you are, fairplay to you fella. Not for all the tea in China...

Newspaper cuttings

Continuing with the shorter and more frequent style introduced in the previous post, I'm going to finish the introductions here. There's a lot to get through.

Most importantly Hook, Line & Singer records are all go on The MüVs. The website is here, the forum is here, you're sat wasting time at work reading the blog and at last myspace have got their shit together and we're on there too. Most people reading this will have recieved an email containing a polite request to get involved and support The MüVs and are therefore no doubt suffering symptoms close to overkill. For this reason I'll be brief with publicity stuff and move swiftly on to the more pressing matter of 8 foot snowmen:

Readers, in accordance with my anti-commercialism stand against the festive period I have decided to wrap all my presents in newspaper (the Guardian probably but if I run short I'll consider The Current Bun). I can no longer see the logic in buying roll after roll of the shiny stuff simply to watch it be torn to shreds and turn from something so innocent to a considerable fire hazard. I am, however, in London this Christmas and wont be shirking my alpha male responsibilities when it comes to decorating the house in the manner I remember my old man did in his prime (think he gets a man in these days).

And so we come to my conundrum. How to maintain my integrity and distance from the Christmas retail juggernaught and the need (can't stress this point enough) to keep a happy missus. The answer? 8 foot snowman.

My mate Richard has joined the blogging community as the Limited Edition he's promised 'views and opinions that may upset, shock...' I for one know he's more than capable, well worth a bookmark.

Did a gig for the suits at Canary Wharf last week, a storming success. Ended up going on last (I like to say headlining) and doing 5 numbers to an excellent reception, thank you to those who made the trip. BAFTA new music winners Urban Dove went on just before me (great, I always pick the perfect time of night to play, more than held my own by the way) and although the main idea behind these pages is to promote The MüVs, I've always got a line or two for quality musicians. Check them out, but make sure they know where you heard it first. Keep checking The MüVs live as there's quite a bit of activity at the moment, look forward to seeing you there.

Freebies: Posted some very sharp merchandising wallpapers here, along with a quiz to test your knowledge. There'll be a prize for the best score.

As always, it's lovely that you decided to spend some time here x

Re: Christmassy

Please see Kate's comment on the 'Christmassy' blog for an explanation as to why the Myspace songs thingy isn't working. Don't try to get a coherent explanation from me, the frustration has reached fever pitch and I'm unable to react without the air turning Man City blue. B*@$ox to technology.

Christmassy

Hello, is anybody there?

The MüVs blog has been left alone for so long I'm getting the eerie feeling I'm typing to myself here. Has everyone deserted me? Please, if you can offer a response I'd be more than grateful - don't be scared! To avoid this happening again, I'm going to experiment with shorter and more frequent posts, cut down on the shit and focus on the good stuff.

But before we do that, let's enjoy one more moment of fun courtesy of Mr. Jack, Mr. Kubrick and a young man whose name, momentarily, escapes me. Heres Jonny!

Tasha's Weapons Of Mass Belief have relaesed a single and as she was lovely enough to play on the Chav Song and entertain two failed boy banders of an evening, I've decided to post the link for purchase here. If, however you find yourself skint and caught between purchase of W.O.M.B and The MüVs EP1 I'm expecting you to do the right thing and pick me. For those of you with money to burn, buy both.

Feeling Christmassy? I don't know what it is to feel Christmassy anymore. Oxford street started Christmas on October 1st this year, I was still not wearing a coat to work. By the time we actually get near to the festive period in accordance with a standard, non profit making, 365 days a year calender I've seen more snowmen, fairy lights, Santas and harrassed, debt-ridden shoppers that I'm physically incapable of feeling Christmassy even if I wanted to. In my eyes, telling someone you feel Christmassy is like telling someone you feel simple. Try saying the word Christmassy out loud without sounding like the villiage idiot - not easy I think you'll agree. Even the word itself, it's like it doesn't want to be said. All that sibilance can't be good for you.

I'm sure there are some readers (if there're any at all that is. Hellooooooooooo!) who must be thinking I'm a bit Bah Humbug and am somewhat missing the point. This next photo is for you, it is my local shop in the same way you might have a Spar or if you're posh, a Sainsbury's local near to you. It would appear that Father Christmas himself has opened up for business in my local area:
Quite, quite mad.

I need some friends and I'm willing to offer a bribe.

Myspace is a online community that a lot of musicians use and consequentially the industry uses to gauge the level of interest in a band or artist. "I wouldn't even consider signing an artist who didn't have a Myspace presence" was a quote from an industry top dog recently. Have a look at the site I've created and you'll see songs (and links to rate them, add comments etc), pictures and crucially a list of friends towards the bottom right of the screen - as you can see, I'm what is commonly referred to as a 'billy'. This is where you come in, will you be my friend (maybe your friends can be my friends too, have I ever sounded so desperate)? To become my friend you need to sign up and then click the 'add to friends' link on my site, or it will prompt you to sign up if you try to view more of my pics. This is actually really important so please take a minute to do it, cheers. I've posted a free song for download to say thanks and if you need help contact me or click here.

The MüVs live pages have the next few gigs on if anyone's up for it.

I'm off to make my Christmas list. Can't wait xx
