Spring is in the air. The long dark nights and wintery morning frosts are reaching their fragile end for another year, lambs effortlessly bound through dew kissed meadows, April showers give birth to new garden life and I shelve my maturing taste for ale and begin to drink cold, fizzy lager once again. Ah....Mandolin Pete was in town the other night playing an impressive set with Bone-Box. Took him back our contemporary living space in the fried chicken capital of western Europe where he had the audacity to beat me at pool:

Also caught New Yorker Reid Paley in a blistering solo set on a very rock & roll night indeed - thanks lads, had a right good 'un.There's been two gigs for The MüVs since the last post plus another, shorter webcast which for those who enjoyed the last one is available for free download here. The latest webcast includes new song 'Today's News' and a new beard for Barney. Enjoy.
Monday 27th March: The Red Room, Piccadilly Circus. Good crowd met for The MüVs debut in zone 1, Barney couldn't make it so a nervous return to solo performance was on the cards. Managed to swerve the stomach butterflies via 5 pints of the fizzy stuff accompanied by self titled manager/minder Danny Chav. Under the bright lights and in front of an attentive, expectant audience I was questioning the sense in drinking so freely before the gig, particularly after dedicating 'True Love' to Danny. Needless to say I thought I was great, although it came as a pleasant surprise to be welcomed off-stage to such warm applause and congratulations at my new found confidence, wit and relaxed manner

I was keen to make the most of my 'happy talkative state' by starting a conversation with Miquita from Pop World who I'd been blissfully (and in hindsight, thankfully) unaware of from the stage. Turns out she loved the set, particularly 'Honey' (you can catch it at the end of podcast 1 - see the big banner to your right) and was well chuffed to take a CD off my hands. Absolute diamond of a girl invited us to exclusive club/restaurant 'Sketch' off Regent Street and was kind enough to scribble the password onto Kate's hand after we'd forgotten it 5 times. Never been anywhere that you need a password to get into before and don't mind admitting I was on the recieving end of some questioning glances whilst swaggering in wearing my guitar strapped to my back in full on Gallagher mode. There was a band on who I didn't catch much of but the two front girls were gorgeous and instructed Kate to take as many pictures as she could...

After 1 unsuccessful mission to find the loo and a now fit to burst bladder (too much information?) I bit the bullet and made an appoach to an immaculately turned out waiter who pointed me in the direction of a curtain and advised that I should follow the blue light. With understandable apprehension I opened the curtain and climbed some grandiose white stone stairs to find myself in a large open plan space, surrounded by 15 or so 12 foot white eggs (think Mork and Mindy - nano nano). Wandering around I got lost amongst the eggs and came upon a decorative fountain area and assuming this was a urinal for the super rich...you get the idea. Looking back I think the eggs were cubicles but I'm still unsure as to the correct function of the fountain. We left.
Tuesday 11th April: A return to The Twist Acoustic club, Greenwich with Barney on in-house acoustic piano and supporting The Weight. A rare chance to see a band who are destined for big things in a gorgeous, intimate venue didn't put us off and we played one of our best sets to date to a fabulous crowd. 'Today's News' made a debut to raptuous applause and Barney's new biscuit joke really tickled everyone's fancy. Was great to play with real wood and strings which we'll be doing again on 26th April at The Progress Bar Tufnell Park, who house a baby grand piano on stage - can't wait. This will be the last time we play live until summer whilst we bed in new boy Steve and work on some new material and recordings so make sure you're there.

That's it for now folks, hope you've had the patience to get this far - there's been a lot to get through. Don't forget to check out the latest podcast, (view online or dowload for your iPod or PSP etc.) already started to recieve emails in so thanks for them, will try to mention a few on the next cast. Take care of each other x
