Ch Ch Ch Changes

It is with great regret that I'm announcing that Barney won't be playing with The MüVs for the immediate future. This has been an amicable and mutual split and is far from an end to the wonderful music we've made together, this blog will be the place to find our new collaborations first so keep a close eye.

Barney has been instrumental in the band gaining such a glowing reputation and ultimately this success has meant we had to make a very difficult decision in deciding to split as neither myself nor Barney could see how he was able to give as much to The MüVs as he would have liked to. He has achieved a lot in his industry and understandably felt that he didn't want to give it all up to tour with us in the back of Emily (that's our van). This happened a while back but I've been putting off what I should have told you earlier...sorry.

This is Emily, my ride. It has been a long weekend.

48 hours before this picture was taken we were loading her with drums, guitars, amps, first aid kits and chocolate ready to take her out for her first gentle run...from London to Edinburgh. I received a text message the night before we left to drive to Edinburgh and a fortnight before we leave to play Larmer Tree festival letting me know I had no bass player for a variety of reasons. It also said that is wasn't the best time but there never would be a good time. I disagree, a better time might have been a week ago when we could've found someone else to play in Edinburgh and someone else to help with the driving. Anyway, we went and Steve & Hollywood made light work of the 10 hour drive up there despite only sleeping for 45 minutes the morning of departure. Well done lads, and of course Kate who was there all the way and the reason you can have a look at some photos.
I'm really very excited to let you know that for Larmer Tree we've managed to secure the services of the FANTASTIC Ian Britt on bass. I've linked loads of people to this page over the years but this is one guy you're going to really love so please, click here and have a listen!

I had been in Manchester making some music with Mandolin Pete and Ian Britt the last week. Also made time to make new friends and catch up with old ones, had a great time and ta to everyone. The results of our recording are among the best things I've ever done...it's up on myspace for a limited time only if you fancy a quick listen.

Next gig is the one we've been waiting for, Larmer Tree festival. This is the original and best of the boutique summer festivals, set in gorgeous grounds amongst exotic wildlife the site was once described as 'the prettiest sight I ever saw in my life' by Thomas Hardy and this year we get to go and play. Can't wait. Immediately before we travel we're off to Wales to record a single, more to follow.

Interest in the vacant bass player position has been massive overnight and we'll be holding auditions after the 17th July. If you fancy your chances in front of the X-factor panel then drop us a line. There's lots of you coming to see us at Larmer Tree, I look forward to seeing you all. xx
