Hemingway

Read an interesting thing recently. Ernest Hemingway once described his best work to be a novel he wrote in just 6 words:

"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

This was in a Guardian article which I have to mention in case I'm in any kind of legal situation by quoting it. They went on to challenge contemporary authors to do the same, the full thing can (and should) be read here.

The real genius of those six words above is how quickly and almost subconsciously they expand into a million or more different possibilities, before you've even fully understood what he did. Obviously I had a go:

"Six words? Six!!! can't do it..."

Obviously devoting my time to the novel has kept me very busy but with The MüVs we've managed the odd rather exciting time. Thursday at Underwolrd was a particular highlight, thanks to everyone for coming down and giving us such a welcome - particularly when we started the show with the Marvin's 'Sexual Healing'. Photos to come.

Next we're playing the Hope and Anchor as part of a charity festival taking place over the Easter weekend. In aid of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, the festival is celebrating 30 years of live music at the Hope and boasts a really amazing line-up. Details via MySpace...and a close up of this comic:

Pleased to see the Guardian is still featuring in your life - its a good job I didn't read the Daily Mail because you would be hard put to find any inspiration there!!
